| Thanks Sean and family for running this event. It was a good time.
Special thanks to Kendall of Up Up and Away for opening early, staying late and extending his valuable retail space to a CAG event.
It was nice to see Crobar again as I haven't run into him since the WoHaG days.
So I went 1-1-1 on the day. Given they were my 3rd, 4th, and 5th games of warhammer made it interesting.
My list was
Black Orc Warboss on Wyvern Orc Big Boss Orc Big Boss on Boar Night Goblin Big Boss.
29 Night Goblins w/ Spear and shield - 2 fanatics, musician, banner 25 Orc Boyz w/ Spear and Shield, full command 24 Orc Boys w/ 2 Choppas, musician, banner 15 Black Orcs w/ musician and banner 3 trolls 1 Giant 2 spear chukkas 1 Rock lobba 5 Wolf Riders w/ musi 5 wolf riders w/ Musi 10 Spider riders w/ full command
My first round was against Frostwolf and his Vampire counts. We managed to get through 3 rounds before time was called. Very magic heavy list and lots of returning troops. I was able to stall his flanking troops from getting to my warmachines.
1 more round would have seen the Boyz get into his units which would change things to the positive. My General was on his Necromancer who was already carrying 2 wounds.
Overall a good first round. It was a draw that felt a lot like a loss.
Round 2 was Carl and his Waaagggh Grimgor.
I was on back on my heels after round 1. I purposely took my black orcs into a fanatic to keep it from other assets, assuming they could hold the wounds. The 2d6 wounds caused 11, of which 5 black orcs fell (ouch). At one time the board had 11 fanatics at some time (9 of Carl's and 2 of mine). My big mistake was taking my general into a large unit of boyz. The boyz broke my general and then, since he could not get far enough away was essentially escorted off the board.
The heros of the match for Carl was a small band of 20 Night Goblins taking out my Giant. He also benefitted from getting off the Waaagggh spell. Which pushed his crew pretty far into my territory.
Overall tough dice for me and a solid win for Carl.
Last game was versus Jpitt's skaven horde. The games goal was to get to the other side of the board and exit your units. Round 1 saw a lot of fire exchanged and moving figs into position.
Round 2 saw Rat Ogres and unit of clan rats charge my General on Wyvern, Giant, and Night Goblins. The NGs released fanatics for acouple of wounds on a rat Orgres. Average #s for hits and wounds on my general and good save rolls by me saw the Wyvern with only 1 wound, the giant w/ 1 and the Night goblins took 2. On return blows we managed to cause enough damage and panic & route those units off the table and catch on pursuit.
From then on it only got uglier for Jon. After calling the Waagh I got into a few more units and just the mass of troops started an all out retreat by several units. I was able to exit most of my units off the board by the end of round 6.
Hey...my first win. Woot.
Once again...a lot of fun. Thanks for hosting.
