First Game

Who: Me (Deathwing) and Kyle (Death Guard)
Lists
Me

Belial

5 Man termi squad (various weapons) + Apothecary
5 Man termi squad (various weapons)
5 Man termi squad (various weapons)

Shooty Ven Dread
CC Ven Dread

LRC
LRC

Kyle

My last tournament list

1 Lord with speed and manreaper
1 LT with speed and plague sword

6 Plaguemarine squads w/ various assault weapons

1 Pred with Lascannons
1 Pred with Autocannon and Hvy Bolters

Mission: Cleanse

Summary:

I deployed everything behind a piece of size 3 area terrain (everything being my two LRC's and two Dreads. Belial and squad were in the left most LRC with one 5 man in the other, the last 5 man were held in reserve).

Kyle deployed his predators in his quarter, he infiltrated the rest of his army. 3 squads and the LT in the quarter to my left, 3 squads and the lord in the quarter to my right.

Kyle gave me first turn, as if he would have taken it he would have wasted (no LOS). I rushed to the left with Belial's LRC, and deployed ready for the assault. My whole army shifted to the left, with my Dreads moving through the area terrain. Deathwing Assault allowed me to deepstrike my 3rd terminator squad on my left also. Everything opened up on one of the PM squads to my left, reducing it to 3 men.

Belial's squad assaulted, with Belial killing two. Return attacks did nothing.

In response Kyle shot at the LRC with 2 melta guns (I forgot to shoot smoke!). Luckily no harm done, he rolled a 5 on the one 2d6 AP roll Sad

During his turn his PM squad was wiped out, with his LT dying because he was too fearless to leave combat. This left me free to move in my turn. The PM's on my right moved toward the battle (at 6" a turn, poor guys).

On my next turn, I moved Belial and boys up and had them shoot the squad they were about to charge. Killing 3. The last of the Melta gun squad was wiped out with 4 rending hits from the dread's AC. After the charge the left flank was wiped out. The rest of my forces have swung to the right by this point in preparation for the eventual arrival of the right flank, I picked off a few of the right flank.

Over the next few turns, I lost two terminators to LC fire, and slowly moved Belial and Co. toward the preds, shooting AC as I go.

At this point Kyle conceded so that I could play Dan (I was just waiting for him to come to my, all the while just picking off guys).

Second Game

Who: Me (Deathwing) and Kyle (Death Guard)
Lists
Me

Belial

5 Man termi squad (various weapons) + Apothecary
5 Man termi squad (various weapons)
5 Man termi squad (various weapons)

Shooty Ven Dread
CC Ven Dread

LRC
LRC

Dan

See Dan's 'Ard Boyz list. Nidzilla!

Mission: Seek and Destroy

Summary:

I deployed everything behind terrain, as I do with my Deathwing. Dan spread across the board, in anticipation of me jumping over to the other side of the board. Broodlord and co. set up 18 to my right, in minimal cover.

First turn went to Dan, everything moved forward, nothing of consequence. happened. My turn, I deployed both termi squads and deepstruck the 3rd. Everything in my army shot at his Broodlord squad, wiping him and them out.

His next turn everything moves forward on Dan's end, I moved my troops back onto the LRC's and began to swing to the right. Shooting accounted for a few TMC wounds and a few gaunts dead.

Turn3 Dan shot again, nothing happened. I tried to move my AC dread through terrain, he failed his dangerous terrain test, immobilizing himself in the are terrain. Luckily he could still shoot his AC out from the area terrain. My right most LRC managed to immobilize itself on a hill, effectively trapping me behind area terrain with minimal firing lanes. I began moving everything into the corner to maximize the amount of shooting before the CC. Killed some gaunts and some warriors on the right.

Dan's turn he moved forward, shooting did nothing again, some gaunts charged but were beat down and ran back to synapse. My dread gets charged and promptly beats some gaunts down. . My turn, shot up some more TMC's, dropping one and taking another down a little.

turn 5 Dan charges my immobilized dread with a TMC and some leaping warriors. Dread dies of course. Does a wound to the TMC. I kill the rest of the gaunts.

turn 6 Dan charges my immobilized LRC ripping it to shreds with a TMC, Belial gets assaulted by the warriors that are left. My turn I take revenge on the TMC while it eats my LRC crew. It dies. I kill the gaunts squad on the right and wipe out the warriors with belial in the cc phase.

Game ends, I lose a LRC, Dread and a terminator or two. Dan is left with a Carni with 1 wound, another with all 4 ( Evil or Very Mad ) and a gaunt.

Victorious Slaughter for me!

Dan was a good player, knew most rules pretty good. With a little hand holding.

Not knowing the Broodlord couldn't fleet hurt him though Sad

Both good games, and an excellent start for the Deathwing. CJ... you're next buddy! Twisted Evil

Badly constructed sentence... but there ya go.

Solid read. Thanks for sharing.

So what exactly are the "various weapons" Question

Haha, that would be telling. But who cares.

Each terminator squad is kitted out as follows.

Sergeant 1/ power weapon + storm bolter,
1 w/ pair of lightning claws,
2 w/ power fist + storm bolter,
1 w/ assault cannon + power fist

Then one squad has one of the power fist/storm bolter guys switched out for an Apothecary with the same weapons (pretty much the best value for points model ever, each player turn ignoring one failed armor save of any type!).

The load-out on the squads worked pretty well though. I think I'll stick with it for now.

Matt, you seem to have forgotten that Walkers move as infantry and can't be immobolized by difficult terrain.

Difficult = No Imm, Dangerous = Imm

So depends on what terrain is classified as. None of use really use dangerous terrain, so prolly the former. Just my $1.10 worth of non-sense.

Embarassed "Dangerous" is the correct classification for Immobilization.

Marc, can you read shirts from a distance of not being able to see the person? Cause I'm wearing a friggin' shirt that says "It is not the Jedi way."

Matt: was it dangerous or difficult?

Hmm, good point. I did play that wrong... ohwell, I'm just glad it wasn't something that cost him.

That is what I get for skim reading a rule (I said I could have sworn you don't take tests too, but I checked and must have read the wrong part).

Thanks for the clarification. The poor vennie dread was very upset.

Matt...you were pulling Grimm's Workshop rules....not Games Workshop.

Similar in all aspects.....but totally different. If anyone wants to know the story behind this..I'll tell you Sat when I'm kicking all your guys asses!
